Video Subbing: Gackt on HEY!x3 MUSIC CHAMP (
Hey there people,
I thought it was about time I did something for the Gackt fans and Hey! Hey! Hey! Music Champ fans again after a very long time. Don't worry, I haven't completely forgotten about you people.
So, I was wondering which G video to do, and I often get asked to do recent stuff, but quite frankly, that's all too boring to sit through, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone and do another old collaboration with Downtown.
Yes, there was a recent one of him appearing on Downtown DX and even Heyx3 before the show ended but.....I dunno, I find the older videos funnier. There were also many other people that talk in between that weren't funny for those videos so yeah, the thought of just having to listen to them again after watching it the first time killed those options. For now at least. Maybe once I more or less forget what they talked about. Except by then, they'd probably be old videos.......fuck
Anyway, maybe I'll try and force myself through a recent one, or maybe not even watch it first and go straight into subbing.
Who knows. Stay tuned.

Video Subbing [REQUEST]: Gackt on Music Fighter (2008.12.19)
Hey there peoples,
More specifically to Gackt fans though for today's video. I thought I should try and get through some of these requests.... Except I think that people who don't necessarily like him can enjoy this one too. He has a few "suberanai hanashi" style stories of his own here.
So it's an appearance from the already cancelled show, "MUSIC FIGHTER" hosted by manzai duo, King Kong and Aoki Sayaka. I did a sub of Abindgon Boys School appearing on this show before.
It's from 2008, about three years ago (so quick!) and so he performs the single, "Jesus" at the end. I might add that this was the song that prompted me to check out more of his music.....
Anywayz, here is it! I mean, here "it is"!

Video Subbing: GACKT on Hey! Hey! Hey! Music Champ (2004.02.23)
I always like his appearances and Heyx3 and am fairly surprised that there aren't subbed (full) versions of them. Unless if I'm missing them somehow.
Anyhow, here it is.

I already put in a note about the passageway in the video.
The word he uses is actually a passageway that bridges two buildings. There isn't a word for it in english as far as I'm aware. Maybe someone reading this will know? Well in Japanese it's "Watari rouka" if you're interested. 渡り廊下 わたりろうか

Video Subbing [REQUEST]: Gackt on Urerudou (1999.06.08)
Hey again, here's another Gackt video. I thought that it would be about time the Gackt fans would start getting a bit restless (and I guessed correctly it seems), so I subbed a short 10min clip of him from a show called 'Urerudou' in 1999. It's an old video, which you will be able to tell from some of their conversations......and the quality of the video. He came to promote his solo debut single, "Mizerable", and it's still when he mumbled rather than talked and stared off into space a lot. Quite different from nowadays lol. It should please some people in that sense.Ohh...and that doll he's holding is Squoll from Final Fantasy.

HIGASHINO KOJI
Is the name of the host here. He was an early protoge of the legendary duo, Downtown, featuring in their show, "Gottsu Ee Kanji". He is often mistaken for being a duo with another guy called Imada Koji that featured in that show but he is actually a solo comedian. He seems kind of nice in this video but he's well known for having a bad personality and being hated by his peers lol. Not really sure on any specific things though.
TAKAMIZAWA FROM THE ALFEE
The Alfee are a very famous and super long existing, three man rock band. The guitarist, Takamizawa Toshihiko could possibly be thought of as one of the first viusal kei artists. He started that style of look well before the term and genre of "Visual kei" was even conceived but his appearance does have it's similarities. The man is in his late 50's now and has said that he thinks it's too late for him to suddenly change to a normal appearance, so has kept up this image ( said on Shabekuri 007 appearance). He now features as a regular cast for the show Shin Domoto Kyoudai and is identifiable for this long dyed blonde/orange hair and flashy suits.
BODY CON
Body con was a style of fashion that became popular in Japan between 1991~1994 among the club going females. It stands for "Body Conscious" and were generally very tight fitting one pieces with very short skirts.
It was during the bubble era and people were pretty crazy back then so there were bars where body con girls danced on tables and guys stared up at them from below.....
The dress doesn't seem that different to what people where in clubs these days though. Well, at least in the country that I live in...

Video Subbing [REQUEST]: Domoto Kyoudai (2001.08.26) Shingo Mama and Gackt
Here's another requested video sub. It's from the show Domoto Kyodai which is hosted by Kinki Kids, and features various musicians as regulars of the show that basically just sit in the background and generally don't even say a word. Pretty easy money don't you think? Back in the days of this episode, people like Gackt used to make funny comments once in a while though.
This episode features Shingo Mama, a one-off character by Katori Shingo from the boy group SMAP, that became really popular for a brief time at the start of the 2000's. He even had a show where he dresses up in the Shingo Mama outfit and goes and cares for some kids for a day or something I think. I have a feeling I've seen it anyway. GET FROM MEDIAFIRE [164 MB]

Video Subbing (REQUEST) Gackt Platinum Box VII clip
Hey there,
Well the shit just hit the fan in the internet world and everyone has gone all crazy because of the FBI shutting down megaupload. Everyone hates America even more now, unfortunately for the mostly innocent people that live over there. I feel most sorry for people that have uploaded gazillion GBs of data on their accounts that possibly may be lost forever though. I'm just happy that I ended u choosing mediafire over megaupload so my files are safe (for now at least) and they're still available for you peeps
So anyway, here's another requested video of Gackt. It's only a short one of around 10 minutes. They do some pressure point massage on some peoples feet while dressed in cowboy attire. Really only a video a close Gackt follower would be interested in.....which is quite a lot of people it seems.

Video Subbing [REQUEST]: Gackt on Oshareism (2010.05.02)
Hello there.
Here's another Gackt video I've managed to finish. I've been requested this video by a few people so I'm assuming it will be popular among the Gackt fan community? Well either way, it's a nice interview, he seems relaxed and happy and very nice in his kimono style. He talks about breaking his tooth and his own crazy method of dealing with it and some other random stuff that will probably make you laugh or snigger.
Seems like he has appeared in some shows over the New Years period too....and they seem to be 'Specials' that go for 2 hours and such....so not very keen to be doing those...so....maybe don't....request them please (-_-) lol
Well I'll take a look at them to see if they're interesting enough for me to keep sane while subbing and then decide.....lol.
Hope this video satisfies you lot for the time being though~~~~~

Video Subbing (Request): Gackt Family
Well hello there, how are you today?
I'm doing fine, just waiting to see if the world will end this year as the Mayan's prophesised. lol
Well not really, but it's an event to look out for this year. Who knows though, we might die before even noticing.
Ahhhh anyway enough of that.
I noticed that I had a pile of Gackt video requests waiting to be done (and keeps growing...) and some were asked for quite a long time ago. The reason that it's been so long, is that due to the number of Gackt requests I get I might do about two and then skip past some to do other requests for a while. Or I end up doing recent Gackt video's which then pushes back the other ones even more.
So this is one of those 'pushed back' ones, and the next one is also highly likely to be one. I'd only recommend this videos to close followers of Gackt most people will probably find it boring otherwise. So yeah if your not much of a fan then now is the time to retreat.
The video features some of his band members and they basically just talk about how weird Gackt is. I'm not reeally familiar with his band members so I don't know his name (he's referred to as the Chief Treasurer) but he reminds me of Naboo from the show Mighty Boosh.
I don't know if this is the full video as it ends quite abruptly but it's the only version I could find/ be bothered to find. If someone finds more and wants it subbed just let me know.

The guy asking all the questions is a comedian called Haraguchi Akimasa that specializes in impersonations. He's actually acting as the comedian Sanma here for some unknown reason. In the video he also impersonates Ishibashi Takaaki from the duo 'Tunnels'. Tunnels are a very famous veteran comedians who have also had some successful music singles. Recently they cross-dressed as some African American females from Nevada along with the DJ Ozma (also sometimes the leader of Kishidan), and had a few hit songs and even a lame ass movie.
Back in the day (early 1990's) they made a song called 'Gara Gara Hebi' (Rattle Snake) which was also a hit. This song is actually a bit special for me as there is a CD of the single at my house, and I used to listen to it when I still lived in Japan when I was around 3~4 years old lol. Here it is if you're interested.
Oh and here's the cross-dressing Afro-American thing lol. They went by the name 'Yajima Biyoushitsu' which means Yamjima Beauty Salon.

Hey again, here's another recent short clip of Gackt, this time on the show "Pikaru No Teiri". It's a skit show hosted by young comedians who aren't very funny although they try to be. They just make a lot of noise. Actually Gackt is the only funny one here and he's not even a comedian. It's more of his famous training/torture equipment, including the crotch stretcher and the rolling push up thing.

I didn't really want to do another Gackt video so soon but since it was a very recent video I decided to do it. I generally give recent videos priority because I realise that people would like to know newer and more relevant news about their favourite artists. Plus it was a short clip. It's pretty low quality but that's the best that can be found at the moment. He comes on this show to advertise his new single "Graffiti" which has a (in my opinion) very annoying cover. He does this cheesy face in the video a number of times when he gets the chance too hehe. One a better note, his hair is growing back and it made me realise again that he does look a lot better with hair covering his whole head. Feel free to share this with all your Gackt buddy community people too if you want. Just don't take credit for it though ♪For mediafire link (83mb)
It was good too see someone not overwhelmed by Gackts super sex symbol status for once. Usually they treat him like a God or a King and try not to say anything bad about him. Tamori on the other hand pointed out that some snot dribbled out of his nose for a second. Maybe his black sunglasses deflect the strange aura that Gackt emits? Who knows.
I kind of sound like a Gackt hater after what I wrote but I assure you I'm not. I wouldn't have subbed so many video of the guy if I was.

Here's an episode of Entame Zamurai, a local show of Kyushu area of Japan. It features three members (Gackt, Jon and Takumi) from the band, Yellow Fried Chickenz. Gackt does most of the talking, and tells of things such as the origins of the band and how he met some of the members. Anywho, enjoy~

FAIL
Apparently Jon is known to have lots of 'fail' moments. If you're from an English speaking country you probably understand how it's used. Other countries might too? I don't know. But basically it's when you do something that makes yourself look lame or like a loser. Such as slipping on a banana or telling a joke that's not funny.
IZUMIYA SHIGERU
Is a famous Japanese blues musician/ actor. You might have seen in in some dramas or movies. The only one I can remember is in Dr. Koto in which he plays an ill tempered fisherman on a remote island. He is well known for his vulgar language and once in an interview he said he was pleased when his grandson told him to "Go to hell".

I'm still working on the second episode so you'll have to wait a bit for it. I don't think there were much in there I need to explain in translation notes but if there's anything that confuses you, let me know.

Video Subbing: (REQUEST): GACKT on Haneru no Tobira (13.11.2008)
Here's requested video of Gackt. It is his 2nd appearance on the show 'Haneru no Tobira'. On his first appearance he did some sort of word game (can't remember well) inside a train setting. This time though, he plays a game where you must guess (and buy) items that are 100 yen out of a group of items. You must pay for whatever you choose, and amongst these items are some very expensive ones, so it could become a very costly game if you're not lucky, or suck at judging the quality of things.
Gackt shows his prankster side a lot, so you'll probably like it. He also does a lot of tough man talk. as usual.
This video had some tricky bits to translate. They play around with words and stuff....but I did my best. Most, if not all are explained in the video so hopefully you'll understand. The subs are also quite fast paced as there are a lot of them speaking really quickly at the same time and stuff so....yeah~~. Sorry if you have trouble reading it.
Aside from that it's a fairly fun episode.

To be honest I'm not a fan of this show and most of its comedians. The fat guy, Tsutsumushita Atsushi was really loud, spoke super quick and said pointless stuff a lot so I really agreed with Gackt when he said:
Unlike most episodes of this show however, this episode was fun. So that was good.

Boschuuto is a fusion of the words 'Bosshuu' (Confiscate) and 'Dust chute', as it goes down a chute when it is taken away. (I just translated it as confiscated). If you want, you can see this in action here:

She is a fashion model/personality and the former girlfriend of Tsutsumushita. She publicly confessed to liking him on a TV show, and their relationship began from there. They broke up in early 2008 (the year this episode aired) so I suppose was still in recent memory for them.
Sammo Hung is one of the most famous Hong Kong martial art actors. He is characteristically fat, but still can pull off acrobatic kung fu moves. He is from the same generation as Jackie Chan, and was even in the same acrobatic troupe with him when they were still around 14~16. He and has also co-starred in many movies with him such as Project A. He is also a director and fight choreographer.
Fullname is Krumm Date Kimiko, and is a female tennis player. She has had a fairly successful career, reaching the top 10 in the world in 1994. In 1996 she announced her retirement, but made a comeback in 2008, and is still playing today. She is married to a German motor car driver, Michael Krumm, which is the reason for her un-Japanese ish name.
And that's all from me.

Video Subbing: (REQUEST): GACKT on HAMA-CHAN TO
Well here's another requested Gackt video, this time on the show 'Hama-chan To' はまちゃんと, hosted by Hamada from Downtown. They play a game of darts and 'black beard' a game where you have to stick little plastic swords in a barrel and try not to make the pirate inside it pop out. It's nice to see how much fun they both have, and it really feels as though they are friends. The loser of the black beard battle must go through a certain punishment.....but what will that be? Hmm... I wonder. Well I already know but if you want to know too then watch the video!!

Video Subbing: (REQUEST): GACKT on Oh! Doyagao Summit!
Well well well well well.....Here comes another Gackt video.
Double dosage of the 'Young Master' for you today. He's one popular dude for requests.
This one is quite a recent appearance of his, and says some jokes that I've heard before somewhere. I think it was from the Arashi ni shiyagare! episode. Anyway that's what you notice when you watch too much TV.....
He's with Hama-chan again too! He appears as a guest on a lot of shows with Hamada, which is cool. I like how they interact with each other. On this show they visit a Korean restaurant that Gackt frequently dines at and he demonstrates his peculiar Gackt-style way of eating things. Here's a hint:
Don't know who this guy is was but his reaction was great.
Well anyway, enough talk and enough pictures. To the video and beyond!

Geta-Karubi is the meat located between each rib bone from cows.
As it is meat from around the bone it is very soft.

Video Subbing (REQUEST): Gackt on Koi no Karasawagi ~Much Ado About Love~
Well here's the episode of show "Koi no Karasawagi ~Much Ado About Love~" that featured Gackt as requested by Koakuma-san. It's hosted by Akashiya Sanma, who is probably the most famous comedian in Japan. He might seem quite mean with the comments he makes, but just keep in mind that he's just joking around as well....that's his job. There's a section that would be pretty hard to understand without reading the translation notes......unless if you watch a lot of Japanese comedy.

TRANSLATION NOTES
There's a lot more than I expected....
Marguerite De Navarre
This was a former queen of Navarre (an area that is now part of Spain) in the 1500's. She was also the sister of the King of France, and so was a very influential woman
Kimono + Tasuki
Are traditional Japanese clothing. 'Kimono' actually just means "things you wear" so it can be a wide variety of styles, but is typically seen as being these:
A Tasuki a long ribbon type of thing that you use to tie up the wide sleeves of traditional Japanese clothes.
Yamashita Tatsurou
Yamashita Tatsurou was one of the biggest music stars during the 70' and 80's and is one of the most successful singers in Japan.
Trend Words
They talked a lot about Japanese trend words which would be impossible to understand unless if you often watch Japanese variety shows and comedy. The ones that were brought up were popular about 2~3 years ago, but as these people are all one hit wonders, most would have disappeared from TV by now or are about to....
HIGE DANSHAKU: Means "Beard Baron" and received a lot of TV time for their act....which is pretty boring to be honest. They just shout out "Renaissance!" for some reason, and "_____ yanaika~i!" which means "_____ isn't it?" If you're interested for some reason check out this pageHige Danshaku (Owarai Hive)
KOJIMA YOSHIO: Was famous for dancing around in his tiny speedos and punching the air yelling out "But it doesn't matter!!" after rhythmically describing some sort of situation. Surprisingly, there was a video on youtube with English subtitles.
Welcome home- WISH!!: This was started up by musician/personality Daigo, a person also famous for being in the rock group 'Breakerz'. He would basically say "WISH!" on the end of the sentence and do some hand signs with his arms crossed. The last time I went to Japan (or the time before....?) this was really popular, and it was common to see mannequins at shops set up with that pose.
HIBIKI "My Apowogies!": I can't really be bothered explaining his one but....It's just famous for an ugly fat guy in a school girl outfit saying "I'm sorry" in a rude and insincere way. I couldn't really think of anything closer than what I translated it as but it sounds too cute for what it actually is... I couldn't find a video of that particular bit so I'll just post one of them talking. They might do it at the end, I don't know I couldn't be bothered watching it.
KODAMA HIBIKI: Is just a veteran comedian with the same name as the previous groups.
MONSTER ENGINE "IT IS I......": This is from a series of famous sketch by the comedy group Monster Engine called the "Playings of the Gods". The plot (well it's not much of a plot but...) usually starts of with someone in trouble, or doing something bad. The long haired guy comes and introduces himself as "I am God....." and starts starts saying he will help or punish that person (depending on what he's doing). That person will then take off the cloak he's wearing and say
- "It is I....", which is answered with
- "It was you....?",
- "You were tricked again....", "
- "I didn't notice at all....."
and ends with "This was the playing of the Gods that cannot be fathomed today"
....or something along those lines. It's basically using awkwardness as humour.
Love Hotel
You might know about these already, but as they're sort of exclusive (I think?) to Japan I'll explain it. It's basically a hotel you go to to have sex. Since Japan is a small country with people living very close to each other in the cities, people might be able to hear you going at it with your partner.....or someone less important to you. And so the love hotel was born, a place where you can go have sex without letting your neighbours or family members know. These places often have very elaborate rooms (spinning beds, jacuzzi etc) and are equipped with all the sex toys and products you may want, and have collections of erotic videos you can view.....There are no receptionists and you pay through a machine that feeds you a key, or to people behind some sort of wall so that they can't see you.
Fortune Slips
In Japan people celebrate the new years by visiting a temple or shrine, where they sell 'Omikuji', which are slips of paper foretelling your luck for the coming year. It tells about various things such as your health, income, relationships and success at work or school. There are different ranks of luck you can get, with the best being Daikichi ("Big Luck" or "Great Blessing") and it is considered good to keep it in your wallet if you get one. Go to this wikipedia page for the other ranks : Omikuji Wikipedia
The Line of Fate
Is a line on your hand that is used to measure success at work when palm reading.
Dreams Come True will be mad!
Sanma says something like "Dreams Come True will be angry at you!". Dreams Come True is a music group and one of their most famous songs are called "Miraiyosouzu" which means something like 'Plans for the future'. So he was implying that they'd be angry at the girl for complaining about her boyfriend talking about the future too much

Video Subbing: (REQUEST) GACKT on TERRY ITO'S TSUKI NI HOERO
Here's Gackt on Terry Ito's Tsuki ni Hoero (Terry Ito's Howl at the Moon), as requested by an Anonymous visitor.
He talks about lots of things that you usually don't hear about on other TV shows, so it should be interesting for people that want to know more about his opinions on relationships, marriage and how to be a strong man etc.
TRANSLATION NOTES
HERBIVOROUS, CARNIVOROUS AND DINOSAUR!
Herbivorous men refers to the recent trend of males in Japan that have become metrosexual and feminine.
They (stereotypically) aren't as interested in relationships and sex with females, and like to engage in grooming and have interest in fashion like females. Carnivorous are the opposite, and will openly go after women. The Dinosaur type is something Gackt just made up, and I suppose they devour females.....;p
WALKING 3 STEPS BEHIND
He was talking about how there's a phrase that goes something like "Females walk 3 steps behind men". It kind of made it seem like that's how things work in Japan, but they mostly walk side by side over there too. Only some old people are like that...
He said that guys should walk infront to protect the females....but from what?? Even if there were lots of dangerous flying objects or something while walking around in the streets, wouldn't it be easier to protect them if they were right next to you rather than 3 steps behind your back...?
You can't even see her then....(-_-)....
TRIPITAKA AND SUN WUKONG
This is in reference to the characters from the old Chinese story of 'The Journey To The West'. You might have seen a dubbed Japanese TV series called 'Monkey Magic' that is based on this story. It's the tale of a Buddhist priest called Tripitaka and three beast people that journey to India to get some holu scriptures. One of the followers is Sun Wukong, the monkey king, who is a powerful but also a sneaky trickster. After getting in trouble in heaven he got trapped under a huge boulder by Buddha, but was rescued by Tripitaka on the condition that he'd protect him on the journey to India. So that Sun Wukong doesn't just leave him and run off, a metal headband/tiara thing that shrinks and tightens when Tripitaka says a prayer is put onto the monkey's head. So this relationship is what Gackt is referring to. Tripitaka needs Sun Wukong to protect him, and Sun Wukong has no choice but to do so until the reaching the end of the journey where is head band thing will be taken off. Even so, they become great friends along the way and Sun Wukong will pretty much risk his life for the priest regardless of the headband torture mechanism.
I highly recommend you watch the dubbed TV series (Monkey Magic) if you haven't already. It's a very funny comedy and made in the 70's with lot's of cheap looking costumes, although that may have been their aim. The English dubbing makes it even more hilarious
