Video Subbing [Request]: SHABEKURI 007 (2010.12.20) with Aoki Ryuji

Hey people,

Here's another Shabekuri 007 video.
This time it's featuring Aoki Ryuji, a famous monomane artist, aka a professional impersonator.
He shocked many people a few years back at his ability to perform as Misora Hibari, who is one of the most famous and iconic singers in Japanese music. Well, pre-80's / 90's music anyway.

What's more impressive, or uncanny, is that Misora Hibari is a woman, whereas Aoki is a man. Due to his high pitched voice he is able to mimic many female singers very well.

Anyway, they tell all most of this stuff in the video anyway, so I'll stop.

Hope you enjoy it.

TRANSLATION NOTES

REQUESTED ARTISTS AND SONGS

Here's a list of the songs that Aoki sang when being requested by the Shabekuri members.

KISEKI by Greeen

This song was the theme song for the popular drama Rookies (based on the manga).
It's about a high school baseball team that became delinquents after thire team got suspended for starting a brawl during a match. They are then brought together by a super hyper teacher. The end.

Haha....it's actually pretty funny though, if you can handle the cheesiness of Japanese drama.

"OMOI GA KASANARU SONO MAENI" by Hirai Ken
Apparently this singer is full Japanese. He looks half, or not even Japanese at all, but apparently he is full. He must have some sort of really distant ancestor with foreign DNA though. Not that it really matters much. He's a pretty cool singer.

SAKURAZAKA by Fukuyama Masaharu
Sung by famous singer/actor Fukuyama Masaharu. He had the star role as Sakamoto Ryoma in the historical drama, "Ryoma-den". Taizo also worked on this drama, thus why he "Has been working a lot with Fukuyama Masaharu recently".

NATSU NO OWARI by Moriyama Naotaro

INOCHI KURENAI by Segawa Eiko
Tokui's impersonation was more of when Segawa Eiko is talking rather than singing, and it's actually "okay".

HANASHITAKU WA NAI by T-Bolan

KAMOME GA TONDA HI by Watanabe Machiko
Skip to around 2:21 for the song.

FLOWER by Kinki Kids
A song by the idol duo, Kinki Kids but sung only as Domoto Tsuyoshi by Aoki.
Domoto Tsuyoshi is actually one of the few idols that I sort of like.

SAKURAI KAZUTOSHI from Mr. Children
Mr. Children are one of the most popular and successful pop bands in Japan. They've hit the top of the charts for around 20 years now. I couldn't really find one of the lead singer, Sakurai, talking during a live show, so here's one of their most famous songs instead.

ATSUSHI from Exile
Exile is an idol group that centres around RnB music and dancing. Actually it's mostly dancing. There are two singers and about 14 dancers, or more. I can't remember but they keep multiplying, although not quite as badly as AKB and their spin-offs.

ZOUSAN
This is a famous childrens song often taught in kindergarten and primary school.

SUCCESSIVE ARTIST LIST
Here's the list for the people he sang as when he switched from one to the next (if they weren't mentioned earlier).
I've added one of their famous songs too.

MATSUYAMA CHIHARU
Apparently Hamada (from Downtown) was made to sing this song every single morning at the crazy military high school he went to.

TOKUNAGA HIDEAKI
This guy is also quite famous for making cover albums of songs originally sung by women.
His most famous song however is "Kowarekake no Radio" (Almost Broken Radio).

YAMAZAKI MASAYOSHI
I like this guy. He has a few famous songs but the most iconic is "One more time, One more chance".
He's also pretty good at guitar.

KAWAMURA RYUICHI
He was/is the lead singer of the rock band, LUNA SEA. He also had a semi-successful solo career. Well only a few songs were hits. I went through a phase of liking LUNA SEA a fair bit. I still do, but not quite as much. Here's a song that I like called "Hurt"
HURT LUNA SEA - YouTube

FUSE AKIRA
Famous singer from the 60's-70's. He was actually once married to Olivia Hussey, an actress who starred as Juliet from the film, Romeo and Juliet. The one directed by Franco Zeffirelli. You get to see her boobs for a bit in that movie. I remember because I saw it at school lol.......and they were pretty nice. Anyway, here's Fuse's song "Ai wa Fushi Cho" (Love is a Phoenix)

SHABEKURI MEMBERS IMPERSONATIONS

SHIMURA KEN
He is one of Japans most famous comedians (at least to older audiences) and was a member of the Drifters, a comedy unit that was something like the Monty Python of Japan. He has many comedic characters and one of them is the "Hen na Ojisan" (The strange old man), and this was who Ueda was impersonating mainly.

TAKADA NOBUHIKO
Arita is famous for loving pro-wrestling and also for impersonating many of it's stars. Takada is one of them, and is famous for yelling "DETEKOIYA~!" which means "Get out here/ Come out here!" kinda thing. He was one of Japan's top pro-wrestlers and is often credited as being the cause of the Mixed Martial Arts boom in Japan.

Takada talking

Takada banging taiko drums in traditional underwear lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_UYFvkNmaw

CHOSHU RIKI
Another wrestler. He was famous as betraying another wrestler Fujinami Tatsuya and their feud was an ongoing story in pro-wrestling during that time. That's Arita why he yells out Fujinami in the video.

  5. Thank you so much for subbing Aoki Ryuji's episode! Just wondering, isn't this video in the year 2010 instead of 2012? It's one part of a 2 hour special...
