Video Subbing: GACKT on STUDIO PARK

Hi...
Another Gackt video lol
This time I did it because of a request by an Anonymous visitor.

....Thanks for reading/ watching & comment to that person. :)

Anyway, here it is.

Get from Mediafire (99 MB) (all three parts)

**EDIT**
For Part 3 (there were missing parts to it) go here

GOSH! THERES SO MUCH THAT PROBABLY NEEDS EXPLAINING WITH THIS ONE!!!!
GAAAAOOOOO!!!

FUURINKAZAN
Fuurinkazan (風林火山 literal meaning 'Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain') is the historical drama set in the warring period (Sengoku Jidai 戦国時代). It follows the rise and journey of warlord Date Masamune.

Sengoku Jidai was a highly unstable time, and was before Japan was unified when land was ruled by many different warlords. Two other very iconic lords of this time was Uesugi Kenshin (Played by Gackt) and his rival Takeda Shingen. 'Fuurinkazan', is the abbreviated form of teachings from the book "Art of Battle" by Chinese battle tactician Sun Tzu, and means "Move as swiftly as the wind (風), silent as a forest (林), fierce as fire (火) and stable in defense as a mountain (山 )". These were the rules that Takeda Shingen followed in battle (to great success) and was also what he had written on his war flag.

NHK
'Fuurinkazan' aired on the TV channel NHK (Nippon Housou Kyoukai 'Japanese Broadcasting Service'). The NHK is basically your ABC of Japan, and broadcasts 'Taiga Drama (大河ドラマ)' or historical drama, which gets great coverage and uses highly regarded stars of the Japanese entertainment industry.

UESUGI KENSHIN
Gackt stars in this show as Uesugi Kenshin, one of the greatest daimyo (warlord) of this era, ruling an area called Echigo (presently is Niigata prefecture). He was well known not only for his military expertise but also his ability in encouraging business and industry growth. His original name was Nagao Kagetora (he refers himself as this name in the footage they show in the interview).

He was a very good martial arts fighter and was nicknamed the 'Dragon of Echigo'. He had a great rivalry with another lord, Takeda Shingen, and a very famous event exists where the two face each other in the battle field, with Kenshin on a horse with sword drawn and Takeda on foot with just an iron fan (called tessen). Takeda fends off all blows and survives, but this was a very famous and iconic encounter between the two.

BISHAMONTEN
In the footage of Gackt's performances on Kouhaku Song Contest, he yells, "I am....BISHAMONTEN!!"
Bishamonten is the buddhist god of war. Yes they do have a god of war. Buddhism isn't necessarily all peaceful as usually believed. Anyway, Uesugi Kenshin was a devoted believer of this god, and some followers even believed him to be an avatar of this god. He was even nicknamed 'The God of War' because of this.

KOUHAKU SONG CONTEST
The Kouhaku Song Contest (紅白歌合戦 'Kouhaku Uta Gassen') is a program aired every year at New Years eve on the NHK. Big stars, new and old, star on this show, singing songs representative of them, or found great success that year. Only a limited number are invited for this grand event, and is a popular (although continually decreasing audiences) way to finish the year, as they do a countdown to celebrate the coming year.

OKINAWA
Okinawa is an island of Japan located south of Japan mainland. It's a tropical island and popular tourist destination for the Japanese, as it is like Hawaii ...but closer. Ownership of this island has been juggled between Japan, the natives and other surrounding countries, but is now part of Japan. They have their own language, and have a very distinctive accent when speaking Japanese. It's also home to many foreigners and half breeds (sorry if that description offends. If it's any consolation, I am a half breed lol), as there is an American army base there. After Japan surrendered in World War 2, America posted a base in Tokyo, but after, as peace and relations were restored, relocated to Okinawa.

TEMPEST
Is a new drama airing on NHK's satellite broadcast channel, 'BS'. It's based off the novel 'Tempest' by Ikegami Eiichi, and is an account on the political rambles of Ryukyuu Kingdom, a place made of a series of islands that include Okinawa.

Gackt plays as Jotei Kan a cunning and intelligent politician from China that plays as adviser for the main character, the daughter of the ruler of Ryukyuu Kingdom. Although, he seems to be trying to help, he is actually plotting to take over her Kingdom.

For some reason I don't think this look is going to be particularly popular with the lady fans....hmmm i wonder why?? lol

He looks a bit like Tien off Dragon Ball....

OGATA KEN
A famous and very well respected actor in Japan. Unfortunately past away on October 5th 2008 just days after finishing filming another movie. He was most famous for his roles in historical dramas and movies.

Younger times....

SPIDERS AND CLOUDS
It was explained in the video but I'll do it again anyway.
Someone asked Gackt to describe his own personality in one word and the answer was,
      "Kumo"
'Kumo' means cloud (雲), and also means spider (蜘蛛).
The lady announcer thought he meant that he was a spider. lol

Aaaaaaaaaaand thats that....finally.....pheww

Any other questions that you're not sure about, or anything else you want to say/ask, please leave a comment.

  4. Glad to see you subbing another GACKT video! XD
Personally, I think GACKT looks really cool as Uesugi Kensin, but it looks like it takes a lot of time and work to put on all that armor. Not looking too forward to Tempest, but hopefully he'll act in another NHK drama.
