JAPANESE BANDS YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO -2-

Hey there people.

Hope life's treating you well.

Again, sorry about the lack of videos these days, although you could say that the rate I used to bust them out was unusually quick, so I've probably changed to a more normal kind of speed. Well there should be one in a few days anyway so you can be be expecting to see something soon.

Anyway, I'm sitting and waiting for a class at university during a 4 hour gap so I thought I might as well do a written post again, while I've got the time.

A while back I did a post with 5 Japanese Bands You Should Listen To which a few people liked so I've decided to do another one. I've tried to account for different styles too so hopefully you can find some that you like.

Mass of Fermenting Dregs
Japanese bands are quite known for their random seeming names. Most of the time they are random words that they mashed together. But, who cares as long as they sound good right? This band is quite amazing in my mind as rarely, if ever have I come across a female vocalist that can deliver such epic and powerful rock songs. And I don't mean that in a screamo/incomprehensible screeching kind of way (she actually sings). Originally, they were a trio band but several member changes and departures have left only two current members. So I don`t know what have happened to them in terms of making new music but they have a great album and some other mini-albums to enjoy. Here's the first song I heard by them, called 'Hikizuru Beat'. As soon as I heard this song, after randomly deciding to play a sample CD in a Japanese CD store, I knew that I would like this band.

Yura Yura Teikoku
Although not having achieved great popularity, Yura Yura Teikoku was still an extremely influential group for Japanese rock. They're another trio band (I wonder why Japan have so many trios?) and are now unfortunately disbanded but have left behind a trove of great music. They're described as being Psychedelic rock, so sort of '70s style. The first song of theirs that I heard was 'Kuudou" (Empty cave, hollow) off the movie, Love Exposure by Sion Sono. It's a strange movie. I liked it but it's also veeery long so I don't know whether you will too. You can try it out though I suppose. Anyway, Yura Yura Teikoku are great because they sound nothing like other typical Japanese rock bands. Although they do resemble some older Western ones, they're different cuz......they're Japanese.....lol. Well you know, the singing style/melodies, language etc etc. Whatever, just listen.

Blue hearts
Blue Hearts is one of the most iconic bands in Japanese rock history. They made punk music huge in Japan.

Acidman

Rize

Yeah as you probably noticed I couldn:t be bothered writing descriptions about them after a while. Sorry about that. looool
