Here's another requested Shabekuri 007. It's only the second half of the 2011.10.24 episode featuring Aramaki Yoko. The guest before her was Watanabe Naomi, a young female comedian, which was moderately funny but wasn't requested/couldn't be bothered. (-_-). If someone wants it, they can request it, although I'm sure there are many more that are much better to do instead.'Monomane' means impersonations and is a much more popular form of entertainment in Japan than most other countries. I don't know why though. They even have annual competitions at the end of the year and a few others throughout to decide who the best 'monomane' artist in Japan is. They type of monomane artists can usually be broken up into two categories, a comedic or a serious one. Comedic ones are usually originally comedians who have discovered that they have a knack for impersonating and so then make skits and such involving famous people. The serious type however, sing seriously and usually have good singing skills too.
This current guest, Aramaki Yoko, falls under the 'serious type' and is quite a newcomer to the business. However, she has quickly risen to the top grade group for her singing abilities and skill at capturing the distinct peculiarities of the voices she impersonates. You probably won't know most of the people she does impersonate, but I can tell you confidently that she is very good.

ReplyDeleteWow this girl is great at impersonating famous singers! Shame that I don't know the majority of the artists, but the ones that I do know Koda Kumi's Honey Flash, ELT's Time Goes By and Ayu in general (listen to her alot), she did a fantastic job! Totally sounded like the real person! Especially Ayu and ELT.
I do know a video that floated around YT about this guy doing "monomane" of B'z whilst doing a skit, for example the "girlfriend" would ask him a question and he would reply singing a line from a famous B'z song in a very comedic fashion. Really entertaining, but unfortunately I can't find it anymore... :(

Agreed most of them were pretty much spot on, cause thanks to this video I've been listening to Maki Ohguro and MISIA lately. And boy, does she really hit all the right notes.

Deletewell. or you can sub a whole episode of a monomane grandprix. but just 1 episode is really long ( i'm talking 4 hours ) . but aramaki , aoki ryuji and other monomane artists are on it like hamaguchi , korokke , monomane sanshimai etc etc. haha. i'm just putting this out there for people who has never seen a monomane show before. Because i'm sure they'd love it if they understood it.
